Web developer in Howrah who can meet you at the workshop

Howrah is across the bridge from my office, so we can meet the ordinary way, at your workshop or at mine. I start on the floor. Seeing the machines helps a web developer in Howrah write the site that follows, and that site tells a buyer what you make and how much of it.

Howrah, West Bengal

Overview

When the buyer comes from another city

A buyer coming through Howrah Junction from another city needs to find you before the trip. The site is where that happens.

Foundries, workshops and fabrication units make up the base here, along with the businesses that supply them. If you supply other workshops rather than making a finished product, the site says so plainly and lists the trades you supply.

Meeting at the workshop is ordinary here rather than something to arrange. So when a page needs checking against the machine it describes, we can do that standing next to it.

What a scope from me looks like

Pinned down in the scope

Not doing

  • Guaranteed rankings
  • Rounding up capacity — the figures stay exactly as you supply them
Rankings belong to Google. My team's part is a site whose capacity figures read exactly as you supply them.

What should be decided first?

The rest of the scope is built on these two answers.

  • 01

    Which product line leads

the one you most want orders for goes first, and the rest follow it
  • 02

    Who handles enquiries

one person for everything, or a different contact for each product line

Where this comes from

The work on show

Have a look at the projects page whenever it suits you, and bring any questions about it to the first meeting.

What moves the number

Cost grows with the product range

Each line below either adds to the job or keeps it small. Everything else is broken down on the pricing page.

  • The number of product lines, and whether each one needs its own page
  • How many photographs of the floor and the finished work the site needs
  • An existing site to map — how many old pages need a new address
  • Enquiry forms — one for everything, or one per product line

What gets built here

Top of every product page

Placed in this order, top to bottom.

  1. 01What the product is called in the trade — the name a buyer would write on a purchase order, ahead of any brand name.
  2. 02A named person to contact — with a direct number, so a question from a buyer reaches someone who can answer it. If that person changes, the name on the site gets updated too.
  3. 03Photographs of your own floor — the machines and the finished work, taken where they stand.

FAQ

Questions from Howrah's workshops

Mostly about the build itself.

We trade under a name that's different from the company name. Which goes on the site?

Both names go on the site. The trade name leads, since that's what buyers know you by, and the registered company name sits in the footer and on the contact page, where someone checking your credentials will look for it.

Buyers reach us through Howrah Junction from other cities. What do they look for first?

Where the workshop is in relation to the station, what it makes, and who to ask for when they arrive. Those go high on the opening page, so someone planning the trip can settle all three before setting out.

What do you need from us before the build starts?

Your product list, any datasheets you already have, and access to the old site if there is one. Photographs can come later, once we've agreed which shots the site needs.

Will the site be built on WordPress?

WordPress is one option. It suits a site your own staff will edit often, while Next.js suits one that mostly needs to load fast and stay as it is. The choice goes into the written scope, based on who will be updating the site.

Will the team that builds the site also look after it later?

Yes, under a maintenance plan, which is listed in phase two. The developers who built the site in the Kolkata, India office are the ones who keep it current.

One product, explained the way you'd tell a buyer

Describe it on the call, and we'll plan the first page around it. If there's an old site, send its address as well.
