hire a WordPress developer
Hire a WordPress developer who builds thin — and shows you how to run it
My team builds new WordPress sites and WooCommerce shops, and redesigns or takes over the ones already running.
- Discovery call and a written scope with a number per line
- Design from your brand, a reference site or your Figma — homepage approved first
- A thin theme (Astra, Hello, or custom) on Elementor or the block editor; plugin audit at the start
- Forms to your inbox, redirect map if there's an old site, sitemap, metadata, structured data
- Speed pass before launch: images, caching, only the scripts the pages use
- Admin and files in your name, handover notes, a fix window after launch

- 9+ years
- building for the web, since 2017

Overview
What my WordPress team builds
Hire a WordPress developer here and my team builds the whole site, from the theme to the contact form. Where the job needs code, we write it, whether that's a plugin, an Elementor widget or a theme built from your design. When there's an old site, it's moved across with a redirect map, so the links people saved still work.
WordPress is the stack most builds on this record run on, for clients in the United States and Canada among those who agreed to be named. The WordPress service page has the build in full, from themes and plugins to widgets and WooCommerce.
I read every page before you see it.
- Custom themes, plugins and Elementor widgets where the job needs code
- WooCommerce shops with products, shipping, tax and payments, tested with a real order
- Redesigns with a redirect map, and takeovers of existing sites

A first WordPress scope, line by line
Included
- Discovery call and a written scope with a number per line
- Design from your brand, a reference site or your Figma — homepage approved first
- A thin theme (Astra, Hello, or custom) on Elementor or the block editor; plugin audit at the start

Phase two
- WooCommerce: products, shipping, tax, payments
- A custom plugin or Elementor widget for the thing no plugin does
- A care plan: weekly updates with a backup first
Not doing
- A launch before your edit test
A WordPress scope lists the pages, the templates, the plugins that stay and what's custom, each a line with a number.
One decision comes from you at the start, and that's who on your side owns the content. Naming that person keeps every page moving.
Process
How hiring a WordPress developer runs
Your part is the content: what stays, what's new, and who on your side owns it.

Why it matters
Fewer plugins, each one with a job
A WordPress site loads every active plugin's scripts, so each plugin needs a reason to be there. My team starts with a plugin audit and keeps a small set, each with its job written down. For the one feature the plugins don't cover, we write a small piece of custom code. That's the site the free WordPress site check passes, and it stays quick as you add pages.
You run the site afterwards. You'll change your own pages in the editor, and the handover notes explain the rest. The admin, the files and the hosting are in your name, and that's the reason WordPress suits a site like yours.
- A plugin audit at the start; custom code where it earns its place
- Handover notes for whoever works on it next
What the research says
What makes visitors trust a site, or leave a checkout
People judge a site partly by how it looks, and shoppers give their own reasons for leaving a checkout. These are the published figures.
70.22% of online shopping carts are abandoned (average of 50 studies); these are the top reasons shoppers give.
- Extra costs too high (shipping, tax, fees)40%
- Delivery was too slow20%
- I didn't trust the site with my credit card information19%
- The site wanted me to create an account18%
- Too long / complicated checkout process17%
- Website had errors / crashed17%
These figures are other people’s research, quoted as published. Your own site’s numbers come from the free checks and the audit.

What a WordPress developer here builds with
A light theme, the editor you prefer, and custom code where a plugin won't do.
| CRITERION | What I use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Theme | Astra or Hello, or a custom theme from your design | Loads only what the page uses |
| Editor | Elementor or the block editor — your choice | Whichever your team already knows |
| Custom code | Plugins, Elementor widgets, theme templates | One job each, documented in the handover notes |
| Shop | WooCommerce | Products, shipping, tax, payments — tested with a real order |
| Speed | Sized WebP images and caching | Pages stay quick as you add to them |
| Security | Doors closed at launch: users, XML-RPC, readme, listings | The things the free WordPress check flags |
| Handover | Notes per plugin and template | The next developer can follow them |

Case study
WordPress clients, in their words
Tesla Electrical Company came with an old site and left with a new one on WordPress and Elementor in 2024. "Sandipan did a perfect job redesigning my old website." Dr Adrienne Little came with a sample site she liked and left with her own, which she edits herself. Her review: "explained how to maintain the site myself at the end, which is important."
Activus Insurance came back for a second site. More WordPress builds, each with the client's own words, are on the projects page.

On launch day
Old links land on the new pages, and the first order goes through
The redirect map sends every old address to its new page, so saved links and search results still work. The forms post to your inbox, and if there's a shop, its checkout was tested with a real order on staging. Plugin updates can stay with you, or my team can take them on a care plan, with a backup first every time.

A real office, real people
Led by me, built with my team — in Kolkata, India.
The team: three developers, a designer and three SEO specialists in the Kolkata, India office, plus around six people working remotely. The WordPress builds on this record were made at these desks, and the people who answer about yours later sit here too.

Pricing
How hiring a WordPress developer is priced
A line per page, template, plugin and integration, each with its own number, agreed before the theme is set up.
The pages you've already got are built first, and new ones follow as your material arrives.
The quote page walks through how the lines add up to a figure.
- Scope: pages, templates, plugins, custom code — a number per line
- Payments: in stages, as the scope's milestones are met
- Changes after sign-off: a new line, added with your yes
Next step
Show me the site you have in mind
Bring the old site, the brand or the Figma file. You'll leave with a page list, a ballpark and a direct answer on whether WordPress suits it.
WordPress developer for hire: what can I see before I commit?
- Before you hire a WordPress developer from my team, you can check the work itself. Run the free WordPress site check on any site from the projects page, and you'll see its plugin list and which security doors are closed. Then read the client reviews beside each build, including Dr Adrienne Little's note that the handover explained how to maintain the site herself.
What does a freelance WordPress developer with a team give me?
- With a freelance WordPress developer leading a team, one person is accountable to you and the scope is in writing, while the build happens in the Kolkata, India office alongside me. You'll talk to me throughout, and everyone works from the same scope and the same staging site.
Can I hire a WooCommerce developer for the shop as well?
- WooCommerce is part of every WordPress scope here when the site sells. Products, shipping, tax and payments are set up on a staging copy and checked with a real order before launch. The checkout is kept out of the cache, and custom pricing or checkout rules are written as a small plugin.
Can I hire a WordPress developer in India and own everything?
- Yes. When you hire a WordPress developer in India from my team, you'll sign a written scope, follow the build on a preview URL, and get the admin, files and hosting in your name. Behind it are 900+ projects completed since 2017.
What should a WordPress expert be able to build?
- A WordPress expert writes a plugin or an Elementor widget when no existing plugin fits the job. They close the security doors at launch, and move an old site across with a redirect map so its links keep working. My team does all three on every build.
Can I hire a WordPress developer for a small business site and still edit it myself?
- A WordPress site for a small business can be built so you edit it yourself. Every page opens in Elementor or the block editor, the runbook shows how, and the admin login is yours. The developer handles the build, the speed and the security. The day-to-day is yours, with weekly updates on a care plan if you want them.
