Web developer in Madhyamgram, where new residents look a shop up

A small, plain site for a shop or a local service is the work I take on as a web developer in Madhyamgram. It opens with what you sell and where your door is, and it gives a phone number someone answers. A shop usually starts with one page. A local service may want a short page for each thing it does.

Madhyamgram, West Bengal

Overview

How a newcomer picks a tailor

Madhyamgram keeps taking in people who have just moved here, and a new resident doesn't know yet which tailor is good or which chemist delivers.

With nobody local to ask yet, they search, and they choose from what comes up on the screen.

That search is where I start. Before any design, I find out the words people type for your trade, and the whole site is written around them.

What moves the number

What changes the quote for a shop site

I price a single page for one shop first, and each extra item adds to it. The reason beside each line says why it adds work.

How many trades or product lines get a page eachevery page is written and checked on its own
Whether customers can send a question from the sitea form needs somewhere to land and someone to read it
How many photographs of the counter and the stock go upeach one is chosen and sized for a phone
Whether a second branch under the same owner needs its own pagea branch brings its own details and its own map pin
Who keeps the offers current once the site is liveyou with the editor, or a maintenance plan

What changes the size of the job.

What a scope from me looks like

Version one, kept small

The first version is one page, made to be read comfortably on a phone screen.

A product list or a second branch comes later, and only when you ask for it.

What gets built here

Three details to get exactly right

A customer walking over for the first time relies on each of these.

  • Directions to your door, in a line or two, for someone who has never walked down your lane.
  • The same hours and address everywhere they appear, on the site and on any listing, so nobody walks to a shut door.
  • A phone number someone picks up, because a caller who hears nothing may well try the next result.

If your customers also order through apps

Many of your customers will have a delivery app on their phone. Your site shows them the shop itself and the person behind the counter.

  • 01

    Who runs the shop

your name and a photograph of you at the counter, so a caller knows who they're speaking to.
  • 02

What a regular can ask for

the items you'll set aside or order in, written out so people know to ask.

Where this comes from

An office you can visit

The team is three developers, a designer and three SEO specialists in the Kolkata, India office, plus around six people working remotely.

You're welcome to visit the office and meet us before you decide anything. If a trip into the city does not suit you, the first meeting can happen on a call instead.

FAQ

Things a shopkeeper weighs up

Five short answers for a shop owner.

Does the site need photographs of the shop?

One photograph of the shopfront and one of the counter is enough for a first version. A newcomer then knows what to look for on your lane, and who will be standing behind the counter when they walk in.

Do we need a new phone number for the site?

A shop site uses the number you already answer, so regulars and newcomers ring the same phone. If calls should reach someone else, such as the person who handles deliveries, that number goes on the site instead.

Can the site take orders?

A shop site's first version takes enquiries by phone and WhatsApp. A product list with an enquiry button sits in phase two, and online payment can be scoped after that if your customers want it.

Can we add a second branch later?

A second branch can be added later with a page of its own, so it can turn up in a local search by itself. We price that page once you've decided to put the branch online.

Who changes the hours when they change?

You can change the hours yourself in a simple editor, the same one that holds your offers. If you'd rather hand that over, a maintenance plan covers small edits like this one.

Next step

Start with your shop's name

Message me the name of your shop. I'll search for it before we talk, and we write the scope from whatever turns up.
