Web developer in Purulia for homestays and resorts near the Ayodhya Hills
Somebody in Jharkhand or Kolkata, India planning a trip to the Ayodhya Hills picks a stay from its photographs. They haven't seen the place and can't drop by to check. So the work I do as a web developer in Purulia starts with a small site that opens on your real rooms and describes the road in.
Overview
What a guest reads before asking for a date
A guest who likes what they've seen wants to know whether their date is free. For a homestay or a resort near the Ayodhya Hills, that can be a phone number or a WhatsApp button, as long as somebody answers it.
That part isn't mine to supply. I can't pick up when a guest rings, so the site only shows numbers that someone at the stay answers.
The questions guests ask on the phone come next, each answered in a line or two, so a guest can plan the trip without ringing.
Side by side
From the traveller's question to the person who answers it
None of a traveller's questions is about design. Each one is answered by somebody at the homestay.
What does the room look like?
- On the site
- A photograph of each room, taken as it is
- Who supplies it
- You, or a photographer you choose
Is my date free?
- On the site
- A phone number or WhatsApp button that someone answers
- Who supplies it
- Whoever picks up at the homestay
How do I get there?
- On the site
- The route in plain steps, from a landmark
- Who supplies it
- Your notes, checked against the drive
What gets built here
What a guest asks before calling
These are the questions guests ask on the phone, written up so they don't have to. You supply the answers in a sentence or two, in your own words.
- 01How many people each room sleeps — and whether an extra bed is possible.
- 02What meals the stay serves — and whether guests should bring anything with them.
- 03Where to park — and how far the room is from where the car stops.
- 04How to reach you if a call drops — a WhatsApp number as well as a phone.
- 05Whether the stay suits children and older guests — stairs, uneven paths, and anything else a family should know.
What a scope from me looks like
Drafted for a homestay
Sized for a homestay with a handful of rooms. Nothing on it needs a payment system. If you run more than one stay, each one gets its own line.
The calendar and the enquiry form are listed in phase two, so they're planned for from the start.
Included
- A written scope: every page and feature as its own line, agreed before work starts
- Design to build, reviewed on a staging URL that stays open the whole project
- Mobile first — checked on a real phone
- Domain, hosting and every account created in your name from day one
- Room-by-room pages, with your own photographs
- Basic on-page SEO: titles, descriptions, headings, sitemap, Search Console connected
- A runbook at handover: how to edit it, what renews and when
Phase two
- A calendar showing which dates are free
- A booking enquiry form
- Ongoing SEO once the site has traffic to read
- A maintenance plan once the site is live
- Logo and brand design, quoted separately from the build
Not doing
- Guaranteed rankings

FAQ
How does a homestay get booked from far away?
A guest can't drop by, so these get settled on the site instead.
Should a homestay site show room rates?
- Showing a range of room rates on a homestay site saves both sides a call that won't end in a booking. The exact rate for a date is still confirmed by phone or WhatsApp, by whoever handles bookings at the homestay.
Can guests book and pay directly on the site?
- Paying on the site isn't part of the first version. Guests ask for a date by phone or WhatsApp, and a booking enquiry form or a calendar of free dates can be added in phase two. Until then, whoever answers the phone keeps the bookings exactly as they do now.
Does a resort need a different site from a homestay?
- A resort doesn't need a different site, only more of it. Each room type gets its own page instead of each room, and the route, the date enquiry and the guest questions stay as they are.
Who writes the room descriptions?
- Room descriptions start with your notes, because you're the one who knows what each room has. I edit them into short, plain lines, and you approve every one before launch. If a room has a quirk, like a step down into the bathroom, the description says so.
What if there are no good photographs yet?
- A homestay without good photographs can still start, with the route and the date enquiry built first. The room pages go live once the photographs are ready, and nothing else has to wait for them.
What should a Chhau troupe's website include?
- A Chhau troupe's website names the troupe, says what it performs and gives one contact for bookings from festivals and institutions elsewhere. Photographs and a short clip from your own performances go beside that, used with the photographer's permission. For a troupe, being found matters more than polish, so the site stays plain and quick to load.
Next step
Two answers to start the draft
How many rooms do you have, and which of them are already photographed? The first draft is built around those two answers, and you see it on a staging link before anyone else does.
