Favicon & App Icon Generator

Upload one logo and get every icon a website needs — favicon.ico (16, 32, 48), PNG favicons, the 180 px Apple touch icon, 192 and 512 px Android icons, a maskable icon, site.webmanifest and the <head> lines — in one zip. Runs in your browser.

A free favicon generator that runs in your browser: drop one logo and download a zip with favicon.ico (16, 32 and 48 px), PNG favicons, the 180 px Apple touch icon, 192 and 512 px Android icons, a maskable icon, site.webmanifest and the <head> lines to paste. Nothing is uploaded.

A missing favicon leaves a blank tab, a blank bookmark and a blank home-screen icon where your logo should be.

One image in, every size out, with the HTML to paste.

Left: a blank or default icon in the browser tab, in the bookmarks and on a phone's home screen. Right: your logo, crisp at every size the browsers ask for, from the 16-pixel tab icon to the 512-pixel Android icon. The manifest in the zip ties the Android icons together.

  • favicon.ico and the PNG sizes in the root of the site
  • The Apple touch icon and the Android icons, maskable one included
  • The head lines pasted once, in the theme's header

Good to know

Why so many files

Browser tabs use 16 and 32 px; Windows shortcuts 48; iPhones read apple-touch-icon at 180; Android home screens and PWAs need 192 and 512 plus a 'maskable' version with safe padding so the OS can crop it into a circle. The manifest ties the Android icons together.

About the favicon & app icon generator

Why a favicon matters more than it looks

It is the smallest branding on a site and the most seen: every tab, every bookmark, every mobile home screen, and — since Google shows favicons beside results on desktop and mobile search — every search listing. A missing or broken favicon leaves a blank or default icon in all of those places; a crisp one puts your logo there instead.

Getting it right used to mean a dozen files in the right sizes and formats. This generator makes them from one logo and writes the head code, so the whole job is one upload.

FAQ

Favicon & App Icon Generator — questions

What size should a favicon be?

Make it from a square image of 512 px or more. The generator produces every size browsers actually use: 16 and 32 px for tabs, 48 for Windows, 180 for iPhone home screens, 192 and 512 for Android and PWAs.

Do I still need favicon.ico?

Yes — older browsers and some tools request /favicon.ico directly. The zip includes a multi-size .ico built from the 16, 32 and 48 px PNGs, plus the modern PNG links for everything else.

My logo is not square — what happens?

It is centred inside a square with the rest transparent, or filled with the background colour you choose. Wide logos become small at 16 px; a simplified mark works better for icons.

Where do the files go?

In the root of the site, next to the homepage, so /favicon.ico and /apple-touch-icon.png resolve. Then paste the head lines into every page (or the theme's header) and clear the cache — browsers keep old favicons for a long time.

What is the maskable icon?

Android and PWAs crop app icons into circles or rounded squares. A maskable icon has 10 % safe padding so nothing important is cut off; the manifest marks it with purpose: maskable.
